As
you may know, our friend Suffolk County Legislator Jon Cooper cannot
serve again due to term limits. I have been nominated by the
Democratic, Independence and Working Families Parties to follow Jon as
your next legislator. During the next few months, I hope to earn your
support by detailing my vision for the future of Suffolk County.
First, let
me tell you a little about myself. I grew up in a family where the
values of education, personal integrity and community service were held
in high regard. Working my way through school, I became a physician.
Today I operate my own medical practice in Huntington where I
specialize as a pediatric ear, nose and throat surgeon.
My wife,
Rachel, and I live in Centerport with our three children who attend
Harborfields public schools. Over the years I have been active in
community organizations working with our youth coaching basketball and
as an ordained minister. Recently, I served as Chairman of the
Huntington Housing Authority. As Chairman, I helped turn a troubled
agency into a nationally recognized, high performing organization. As a
licensed private pilot, I had the privilege of flying to Haiti with an

Huntington Councilperson
Glenda Jackson
|
Ester Bivona
began her public service career in 1982 as Deputy Receiver of Taxes for
the Town of Huntington. In 1991 Ester was elected Receiver of Taxes for
Huntington and has served in that capacity since then.
Her common
sense approach is seen in many of the innovations she has initiated in
the Huntington Tax Office. Through her efforts, Huntington is the first
Town Hall equipped with an ATM machine for the convenience of residents
and employees and is the first town tax office accepting credit cards
for tax payments with no charge to the town.
Mrs. Bivona
holds a Bachelor's Degree in Education from SUNY at Geneseo and a
Masters Degree in Education from Hofstra University.

"Glenda Jackson is a hard working, committed public servant. Her heart is in the right spot."
- Long Islander Life, January 2007
In these
challenging economic times, we can't leave our future to chance. We
need experienced leaders to protect our quality of life. Re-Elect
Councilwoman Glenda A. Jackson.
Glenda
Jackson was actively involved in many civic associations, holding
several key positions in addition to being a member of the Zoning Board
of Appeals which led to her appointment to the Huntington Town Board in
February of 2006 to fill the vacant seat of Marlene Budd. She was then
elected in November of that year to serve out the balance of the term.
In November, 2007, she was more...

Suffolk County Executive
Steve Bellone
|
|
Steve Bellone is an Army veteran and the current Babylon Town Supervisor. In that role, Bellone kept Babylon in
excellent fiscal standing even as the recession put governments at all
levels in deep financial trouble. Bellone reduced the town's debt every
year he was in office, eliminated red tape to attract new businesses to
Long Island, and delivered a 4.3 million dollar tax cut to residents.
As County Executive, Bellone
will use that same approach to reduce Suffolk's debt, improve Suffolk's
business environment and keep taxes low. Bellone is serious about
property tax reforms to reduce the burden on homeowners which is why he
supports Governor Cuomo's property tax cap. And Bellone thinks it's a
shame that young people are leaving Long Island at record rates due the
high cost of housing and the lack of good-paying jobs. That's why he
will incentivize businesses to move to Suffolk County and help young
people stay by creating good jobs and making it less expensive to live
here.
Steve Bellone was elected Babylon's 30th Supervisor in 2001 after serving a four-year term on the Town Board. more..
